The live took place on July 8, shortly before July 9—the date officially recognised as the day the name ARMY was announced in 2013.
Rather than turning the moment into a highly produced anniversary event, Hoseok kept it personal. He talked, laughed, sang “Happy Birthday” to ARMY and created the feeling of a late-night celebration shared between old friends.
Hobi Sings “Happy Birthday” to ARMY
One of the live’s sweetest moments came when j-hope sang “Happy Birthday” for the fandom.
Usually, ARMY gather to celebrate the members’ birthdays through projects, messages, donations, streaming parties and worldwide events. This time, Hobi reversed the tradition and became the one singing to ARMY.
It was simple, spontaneous and deeply Hoseok: bright enough to make everyone smile, but sincere enough to become one of the anniversary’s most emotional memories.
“If There’s No Path, Let’s Draw the Map Again”
During the celebration, j-hope also shared a message about the strength connecting BTS and ARMY.
He reminded fans that both BTS and ARMY have survived uncertainty before and have always found a way to move forward. His message was not about pretending that every chapter is easy. It was about trusting the bond that has continued through change, distance and years of waiting.
The heart of his message was clear:
We are strong. We are still connected. When no path exists, we can draw the map again together.
That thought feels especially meaningful during the ARIRANG era.
BTS have returned as seven after solo projects and military service, while ARMY have entered a new chapter with them. The road ahead may look different from the past, but the relationship at the centre of it remains unchanged.
BTS Officially Celebrate ARMY’s Birthday
On July 9, BTS’s official Weverse community also posted a birthday message for ARMY:
“ARMY, Happy Birthday ❤️ July 9—the day ARMY became ARMY!”
The official celebration invited fans to join a BTS World Listening Party and share the songs they wanted to hear together.
The listening event turned ARMY Day into a global shared playlist, allowing fans across different countries and time zones to celebrate through the one thing that first connected BTS and ARMY: music.
Why July 9 Matters
ARMY is more than a fandom label.
Over the years, the name has become connected to stadium oceans, charity projects, voting teams, translations, fan art, streaming communities, academic studies and millions of individual stories.
But beneath all that scale is something more personal.
ARMY represents the people who found comfort in BTS’s music—and the seven artists who repeatedly made it clear that the connection works in both directions.
That is why a quiet Weverse Live can feel just as important as a stadium performance.
There were no giant screens or elaborate stage effects. There was only Hoseok, a birthday song and a reminder that BTS had not forgotten the date that gave their fandom its name.
ARMY Note
ARMY spend the whole year preparing birthday projects for seven men, and Hobi really showed up like:
“Actually, today I’m singing for YOU.”
No artist-fandom relationship is perfect or simple, but BTS have always treated ARMY as part of their story—not as an audience standing outside it.
Thirteen years after the fandom received its name, the message still feels the same:
BTS and ARMY are connected.
We have found the road before.
And when we cannot find one, we draw a new map together.
Happy ARMY Day 💜
