Titled “BTS 2.0 brings the group’s ‘K-’ to the stage,” the feature explores how the tour was designed not simply as a comeback concert, but as the beginning of BTS’s next chapter: seven members returning with more than a decade of history behind them and a new understanding of who they are together.
The Biggest Tour of Its Kind
The ARIRANG tour began on April 9 at Goyang Stadium and has expanded across North America, Europe, South America, Asia and Australia.
According to the official report, 88 performances across 34 cities have been announced, making it the largest single tour ever staged by a K-pop artist. The scale reflects both BTS’s worldwide demand and the emotional weight of their long-awaited return as seven.
The report also revisits BTS’s Mexico chapter, where their first solo concerts in the country in nearly eleven years created extraordinary scenes. Around 50,000 people gathered at the Zócalo, while approximately 35,000 fans assembled outside the stadium during the second and third concert nights.
The Tour Is Built Around Han, Heung and Love
The ARIRANG concert is structured around three emotional ideas deeply connected to Korean culture:
Han — pain, endurance and emotions carried through hardship
Heung — joy, rhythm, celebration and collective energy
Love — the bond connecting BTS and ARMY
These ideas also connect to three larger identities inside the show:
BTS. Korea. ARIRANG.
The first section explores struggle, pressure and inner complexity through songs including “Hooligan,” “Run BTS,” “SWIM” and “Merry Go Round.”
The second section releases that pressure through the energy of “FYA,” “FIRE,” “Body to Body” and “IDOL.”
The final section brings the concert toward love, memory and BTS’s relationship with ARMY.
A 360-Degree Stage Designed for BTS 2.0
The production team wanted the opening to feel different from the normal structure of a K-pop stadium concert.
Rather than introducing BTS through a predictable entrance, the show begins with chaos: flares, smoke, red light and “Hooligan” exploding across the stadium before the seven members appear at the centre.
The official report explains that the 360-degree stage was chosen to show a new version of BTS—one willing to challenge familiar concert formulas and search for the next step after years of performing at the highest level.
j-hope reflected on how difficult that process was. The members had to adapt to changing directions, unpredictable stadium weather and the challenge of performing toward every side of the audience.
But the result gave him confidence that this tour could become a major step forward for BTS.
Korea Is Built into Every Part of the Stage
The ARIRANG tour does not use Korean culture as a small decorative detail. It is built into the structure of the show.
The central stage was inspired by Gyeonghoeru Pavilion, a historical space where Korean kings once held royal banquets.
The circular centre draws from the Taegeuk, while the roads extending toward the four stadium gates reflect geon, gon, gam and ri—the four trigrams found on the Korean flag.
Other Korean elements include:
Flowing white fabric inspired by seungmu, the traditional monk’s dance
Traditional masks appearing during “they don’t know ’bout us”
Flags and ribbons used throughout “IDOL”
Ganggangsullae-inspired movement during “Body to Body”
The melody of “Arirang” being sung by stadium audiences around the world
The production team’s goal was not to recreate Korean tradition exactly as it existed in the past, but to reinterpret it through BTS’s modern global stage.
BTS THE CITY Expands the Concert Beyond the Stadium
The report also reveals more about BTS THE CITY ARIRANG, the citywide experience designed to continue the emotions of the concert after ARMY leave the stadium.
THE CITY has already appeared across Seoul, Las Vegas, Busan and London through landmark displays, exhibitions, food collaborations, pop-ups and fan activities.
The project is designed around each city’s own character while keeping the identity of the ARIRANG album and tour consistent.
In Las Vegas, massive media displays and red landmark lighting transformed major parts of the city. In Busan, the project focused on BTS’s anniversary, FESTA and the emotions of returning home.
Seven Messages to ARMY
The most emotional part of the report comes directly from the members.
RM described the tour as an opportunity to enter his thirties, meet ARMY around the world and share the story BTS has built over more than ten years.
Jin said he hopes the ARIRANG concerts remain in ARMY’s memories like unforgettable photographs.
SUGA’s wish was simple: after such a long time without full-group concerts, he wants ARMY to enjoy every moment wholeheartedly.
j-hope spoke about finally feeling united again and recognised that the audience helps create the concert just as much as the performers.
Jimin wants every ARMY attending to feel that the years of waiting and the effort required to reach the concert were completely worth it.
V described the tour as a view of “grown-up BTS”—seven members continuing to grow alongside ARMY.
Jung Kook hopes the experience becomes something fans want to return to and watch repeatedly.
More Than a Comeback Tour
The ARIRANG tour is not trying to erase the years BTS spent apart.
It carries those years into the performance.
Every solo chapter, military-service experience, old song, new track, city and reunion has become part of the stage. The surprise-song section connects the present tour with BTS’s past, while the ARIRANG album points toward whatever comes next.
The official report presents BTS 2.0 not as a completely different group, but as the same seven people returning with more history, more confidence and more questions about their future.
They are still rooted in Korea.
They are still moving with ARMY.
And they are still building the answer together—one stadium at a time.
ARMY Note
We thought we were attending a concert, but BTS really built:
Korean history
emotional storytelling
a moving cultural festival
a reunion ceremony
360-degree cardio for seven men
and an entire city takeover 😭💜
ARIRANG is not just the tour name. It is the story BTS are carrying around the world.
