This became one of ARMY’s longest-running LIVE-chat jokes.
The commonly traced origin goes back to a SUGA livestream where a fan jokingly proposed and Yoongi responded along the lines of telling them to bring the paperwork/documents.
Instead of disappearing like a normal internet joke…
it evolved.
ARMY began posting marriage proposals to Yoongi under virtually ANY BTS member’s LIVE.
V noticed.
Jimin noticed.
j-hope noticed.
The members started reading the comments aloud.
Eventually even BTS treated the phrase as recurring fandom lore.
Weverse itself has published media around BTS members repeatedly encountering “SUGA marry me” comments, which is probably the clearest proof that the joke escaped the fandom and entered official BTS-content territory.
By 2023, reports were literally discussing whether ARMY should retire the meme because it had become THAT constant.
And in 2026?
Still alive.
