Why Does ARMY Say βBorahaeβ? π The Purple BTS Lore
If you become ARMY, one thing happens almost immediately:
Purple starts appearing EVERYWHERE. π
Purple hearts. Purple lights. Purple projects. βBorahae.β βI purple you.β
And no, BTS did not simply choose purple as a random fandom colour.
The story goes back to a BTS fan meeting in 2016. During the event, V saw ARMY covering their light sticks with purple material, filling the audience with purple light.
Taehyung talked about purple being the final colour of the rainbow and gave it his own meaning: loving and trusting one another for a long time.
From that moment came 보λΌν΄ β Borahae, commonly translated by ARMY as βI Purple You.β
It was not an old Korean phrase that BTS discovered. Taehyung created the expression himself.
And ARMY basically said:
βUnderstood. Purple belongs to the family now.β ππ
Over time, the phrase became so closely connected with BTS and ARMY that entire landmarks, anniversary events and fan projects began turning purple.
That is why Baby ARMY might enter the fandom wondering:
βWhy is everyone sending purple hearts?β
β¦and approximately three days later they are using π in every message too.
ARMY LORE LEVEL: Essential.
If someone says βBorahaeβ, they are not just saying βpurple.β They are referring to a long-running BTSβARMY language of affection, trust and staying together.
Weverse Magazine itself traces the phrase to V at BTSβs 2016 MUSTER and explains how it grew into an enduring BTS/ARMY expression.
